about

Welcome to my (new) new album, Midwest Midwinter Blues.

This past summer, as we were finishing up Morning Glories, I had a thought about doing a midwinter album – not really a Christmas album, something more eclectic. I could jump start it by remixing two songs from Athena (2009): The Christmas Tumbleweed and Joseph’s Song. Both won awards at Winfield in 2008, a medal for The Christmas Tumbleweed and an alternate for Joseph’s Song. I wanted to get these songs in front of everybody, one more time, in 2016. I also wanted to record the title song, which I wrote several years ago.

So we went to work. Threw in some Christmas songs, including Cantique de Noël (in French, just for fun), a Hanukkah song, Light One Candle, and Hard Candy Christmas, from The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. We stirred them up and Voila! Midwest Midwinter Blues!
